The Buddy Walk is a short distance walk that anyone can participate in. It is a wonderful event that celebrates the many abilities and accomplishments of people with Down syndrome.
The Buddy Walk is a fantastic way to raise awareness throughout our community, families, teams, and corporate sponsors. This year the DSALA anticipates over 2,000 walkers!

Understanding the OAH Process (Office of Administrative Hearing)

This workshop, provided by Parent's Place Family Resource and Empowerment Center, will be facilitated by Sherianne Laba, Presiding Administrative Law Judge for the State of California Office of Administrative Hearings, Special Education Division. It will cover the following topics:
- How to file a case with OAH
- What to expect after you have filed a case with OAH
- Mediation Services
- What is a due process hearing
- Limitations of OAH jurisdiction
- OAH website demonstration
- Understanding the difference between Early Start, Lanterman, and IDEA cases

Buff Buddies has an expansive, clean, and vibrant indoor play arena in La Canada, which is located between Glendale and Pasadena. The indoor play areas include a bounce house, rope swings, slides, tunnels for crawling, dodge ball rooms, a rock climbing wall...and much more. An outside area is available, if you would like to bring some beverages or snacks to enjoy during the play time
A special rate is available for families to have this wonderful play experience together. The cost per family is as follows:
Single child...............................$10.00
Two children (siblings)................$15.00
Three or more children (siblings)..$20.00
Children under 24 months (and parents) are free!
Play time is from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm.

Come cheer on the high schoolers from Flintridge Prep as they raise money for Club 21! The teens will be gathering support from their friends and families as they "Walk for Inclusion," but we need your smiling faces on the sidelines to remind them why they are doing this. Many of these teens and their families have never even met a person with Down syndrome before, so bring your children and we'll all make a day of it together.
This walk is from 1:00 - 3:00 pm

Collaboration and Problem Solving Workshop

The afternoon will include an overview of the meaning of collaboration and a review of the problem solving process. Participants will view a video involving team members working to solve a child's challenging behaviors in a preschool setting and each members' perspective on the situation. Opportunities for discussion will following the video presentation.
